okay this is the storyline i got. we human leave earth in the distant future to get this special mineral from pandora. the planet where the big blue people live called na'vi. so instead of asking, we tried to take it just like old americas been doing for years now. so how do we take it. we invented avatars which are biological copies of a human's features in Na'vi form. so instead of doing research with the avatars a douche bag of a general want to use them as undercover 007 agents.
Which bring us to the main character of the movie. a soilder who lost his ability to walk cuz of a different war on a different planet. but get this, in his avatar he can walk. unfortunately this is where the plot twist end.
Dont get me wrong, the effects of the movie were epic. they are probrably a few years ahead of our time. but i got smart and looked at the movie normally instead of 3-D. and i learn somthing.....the story is literally garbage. the movie was so obviouse, i felt like i was watching disney's pirates of the Caribbean, and the whole damn trilogy had more plot twist then avatar. Pretty much once the general said " go undercover and learn what they Know" it pretty much riuned the movie for me. i knew the main character would meet a warrior princess, i knew he would fall in love, i knew he would pass the tribe test, and i also knew there was gonna be an epic war, which was pretty disappointing in my opinion. imean that ruined the movie for me.
the acting was pretty good though. i couldnt even tell that the navi had voice actors until i realized this was a movie. the creativity was of the charts. i was impressed how the creatures were well thought out, how the Na'vi had a giant tree which worked almost like Xbox Live on a good day, how they can be one with nature and its creatures, kinda like poke'mon. but hey the movie needed its ups. it didnt have many funny moments, but every funny moment was a near death experience it was so funny. so its not really too bad.
But wat saved the movie were the special effects of it. even though the movie was a remake of Natives vs the awsome technology of America, it was descent. if the story line wasnt so obvious i would have made a better review of it. Even if it just gave me the thought 'i wanna finish this movie so i can know what happens' mood. but instead i got disappointment in a storyline, with decent action, a love affair so obvious that he couldve wrote in cursive on a cut out heart card which said 'i love u' and i couldve been impressed that she would have alien sex with him ( which to this day i cant figure out how that works exactly). but it was a good movie......okay, it was alright, not a movie i would like to see twice.
3/5 stars in my opinion, hopefully james camerion will do better with the story, and for the love of god a shorter movie.
